Would Munchkin be considered a tabletop RPG, or are you playing something way more complex?

Lu!!

I missed you.

Tabletop is usually the kind with figurines and stuff right?  You know Munchkin does seem kind of similar.

I had no idea what Munchkin is but I did a brief google, I think it would count?? I'm super beginner at this nonsense so I dunno. Been playing a nice simple one of a friend's design but hoping to play some actual Dungeons & Dragons at some point! :nerdy:

Not harass.  Just a gentle nudge.  With love.

You should make a fresh meat topic too and tell us what's new in Nappaworld.

Man ttrpgs are my JAM! what system are you playing right now? I love me some dnd.

Currently playing a simple wee un-named homebrew thing to help the budding game-designer DM do some home-/idea testing, which uses d6 dice and basically boils down to "AU Scotland Fantasy Pirates". :) Some of my team at work are hoping to put together a 'real' D&D group though, so I'm hoping to get into that at some point soon!

I love home brewing systems! and honestly I think I prefer using D6 based systems over the d20 one that DnD uses, I think the d6s are more consistent when it coming to representing skills or abilities your character is actually good at. Any ideas for your dnd character yet?

d6 is nice and simple, but I wanna try all the funky shaped dice too! :shiny:

I have a couple of ideas, but it really depends on who gets in there first (all of a sudden my work, a discord server and a couple of my friends all want to think about having a game so I've gone from none to 2 many in about a month flat) and how hard the relevant DM wants to go. :sweat:I'm also a complete beginner so I'm just mulling over basic ideas while I gather more info/see which game gets underway!

Yeah I have that problem myself, I DM three games a week and play in another. I take it you would be playing 5th edition dnd?

Link to post

Most likely, yeah, I've heard it's a little more streamlined from some recent previous editions so probably best place to start

Munchkin doesn't really have a role-playing element to it though. Great game for sure.

I'm also now supersad I can't just play board games with you guys :(

Sorry, no sadness in your hello topic! Hello  did you see the Broly movie?

It is by far the most newbie friendly, it makes character creation and progression much simpler and takes out a lot of the number crunching to make it more role playing focused.

Munchkin is an absolute blast. If you get the chance to play it, do. You will not regret it.

Also; hi! :roller:

Where do you get the expansions?

Any place that sells board games, Amazon, your local games store. I've seen everything from zombie to pathfinder themed expansions there are at least two dozen different sets.
