Vic Boss 612 Posted September 5, 2019 Two or three songs or maybe an album that you've really been digging. Probs just try a thread like this for a week and see if anyone's into it. Only heard of this because of A Boogie (haven't really gotten to Meek Mill yet but I've heard him on features, been growing on me a bit, don't know who Ed Sheeran is but sound aight) I like lyricists in general and DAT BEAT My sister was a metal and band nerd back in the day so ofc she listened to Dream Theater. It was bothering me recently because I knew I liked one of their songs back in high school but I had forgotten which one it was. Turns out it was their most popular one and I found it immediately 1 ISO Share this post Link to post
dr. b 492 Posted September 5, 2019 Now you're talking my language I've been working on the bass lines from some songs off of Fly By Night by Rush this week, so I've been listening to "Anthem", "Best I Can", and "By-Tor and the Snow Dog" a bunch. "Anthem" is a top notch album opener. Also Jay Som's new album And some Steely Dan too, gotta study those Chuck Rainey bass lines ISO Share this post Link to post
Vic Boss 612 Posted September 5, 2019 I have a confession to make: I don't think I've ever heard a Rush song in my entire life, and if I have, it wasn't with knowledge that it's Rush ISO Share this post Link to post
dr. b 492 Posted September 5, 2019 I will fix that! Get ready for a bunch of YouTube videos coming tonight. You don't think you have heard "Tom Sawyer" even? 1 ISO Share this post Link to post
Vic Boss 612 Posted September 5, 2019 Nothing immediately comes to mind when you say it, so I dunno. ISO Share this post Link to post

Vic Boss 612 Posted September 5, 2019 I'm expecting it both because Canadian and because previously aforementioned music-nerd sister did have Rush CDs ISO Share this post Link to post
dr. b 492 Posted September 5, 2019 Tom Sawyer Freewill Limelight A few big ones. Surely you've heard them on the radio or somewhere. "Closer to the Heart", "Spirit of Radio", "The Trees", "Subdivisions", "Fly By Night", "Working Man", ... there's no way you haven't heard at least a couple of these tunes. 1 ISO Share this post Link to post
Vic Boss 612 Posted September 5, 2019 I recognized the voice in the first song immediately but not the song, Limelight and Fly By Night (especially the intro) are the "OHHHHH, that's Rush" songs. I might've heard Closer To The Heart before, feels almost familiar. 1 ISO Share this post Link to post
dr. b 492 Posted September 5, 2019 "Closer to the Heart" has been an enduring fan favourite since it was released on A Farewell to Kings (possibly my #1 fav Rush album) in 1977. It's a rock radio staple. ISO Share this post Link to post
