Tassifox 418 Posted July 22, 2020 Sooooooo this came up on my FB feed with a friend of mine who was humoring her daughter. So I thought it would be interesting to see where this goes. Hot Dog, sandwich, yay or nay aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand GO! ISO Share this post Link to post
Tassifox 418 Posted July 23, 2020 I also say yes because: *Bun is bread which the meat fits nicely in. *You can eat it with all kinds of condiments (or plain) It's funny to see how many people on my friends post were saying no without pointing out that the dog by istelf didn't make it a sandwich. But not giving any other real reason why it wasn't besides that. Also did anyone else used to cut the hot dogs length wise and place them on regular slices of bread? ISO Share this post Link to post
Vic Boss 612 Posted July 23, 2020 It might technically be, but if you go to a restaurant and order a sandwich or ask someone "hey, can you make me a sandwich" and then they ask what you want on it and describe it to them, they'd go "That's a hot dog." So I'm a No even though I'm also a Yes. 1 ISO Share this post Link to post
Jane 100 Posted July 24, 2020 Yes! It might be a sandwich in the same sort of "eh, technically" way a tomato is a fruit, but a sandwich it be. ISO Share this post Link to post

Rulkster 47 Posted July 27, 2020 I say no because a sandwich in my mind need to have 2 separate pieces of bread and a hotdog clearly is just one. 1 ISO Share this post Link to post
webhead 519 Posted July 27, 2020 Yeah 2 pieces of bread is completely arbitrary and leaves out shit loads of things that are called sandwiches. ISO Share this post Link to post

Besides buns split half the time so they would still be 2 pieces. 19 hours ago, little birdy said: So is a sub a sandwich? I also say yes to that be cause all the fixings! Not gonna lie when I worked fast food back in the day the official name for burgers were hot sandwiches. Assuming that's what you were getting into with your love of burgers big boi! Tassifox 418 Posted July 28, 2020 But that's the only difference for a hot dog bun from most sandwiches is that it isn't sliced all the way through. So it still essentially be called a sandwich. ISO Share this post Link to post
Rulkster 47 Posted July 29, 2020 I still stand by not calling it a sandwich! ISO Share this post Link to post

Tassifox 418 Posted August 1, 2020 No because that's just an American poor man's version of a Katsu Dog. And you can't put a sandwich on a stick. ISO Share this post Link to post

I made the same argument point yesterday. I know a tomato is a fruit, but I wouldn’t put it in a fruit medley. I guess a hot dog is technically a sandwich, but it’s definitely not in the same category as a a ham and cheese or a turkey club. ISO Share this post Link to post
