My wife was able to get her first vaccine shot today. She's an RN but works from home and still qualified for it right now. It's not going to change our behavior, but it is a little bit less of something to worry about.

My mother in law got her first shot the other day but I won't really feel anything solid about it until she has that second one done. Quite a few people I know have gotten first round it seems, but I apparently know a lot of people working in healthcare related fields. My dad tried to go on some "well I don't want to be in the first round to get it just in case" bullshit and I point blank told him to shut the hell up. I mean for fuck's sake, dude has regularly told me about all his school friends that died of polio before they all got the vaccine. It's a really bitter feeling seeing the man who had me in awe of science as a child try and rope me in to this antiscience dumbass fucking bullshit. After I shut down his attempt at the "well i'm just sayin'" conspiracy shit he proceeded to complain that well he can't get it anyway because Alabama is run by a bunch of incompetent dumbasses, which is true so whatever. My city announced a waiting list for the waiting list and since we both qualify for an earlier round due to other shit I went on and signed us up, so we'll see how long that takes.

I bought the audiobook version of Neil Gaiman's book on Norse mythology and it got me interested in going through GoW again, so I started it up on my PS5 the other day.

My wife has had some struggles with alcohol and she stopped drinking around February - March last year. I haven't had anything to drink since about then too because continuing to drink is really a dick move and doesn't help support her. I do miss having a cooking beer. I guess it isn't that bad since I didn't really drink that much to begin with. I don't judge anyone on their choice to drink. After not doing it for a while you can start to see how ingrained it is in our culture and that is kind of shocking.
