Here's the thing though. You can cling to these notions stubbornly or you could admit that maybe they could make it easier for people that choose to do so. There default difficulty can still be exactly what it is. That shouldn't change. Giving people that are frustrated a leg up isn't going to hurt them. It might even give them enough time to get good enough to try out the regular difficulty. I know when I get particularly good at a game, I'm much more likely to try out hard mode but I'm not going to start there.

PRESSHAH COMIN DOWN ON YOU COMIN DOWN ON ME

I'm split on that. On one hand, I absolutely fucking hate shit like that in most games. On the other hand, the point of that is to punish you in the DS games. Maybe part of "easy mode" is you simply not losing your shit when you die. Makes progressing a fuckload faster without the artificial difficulty/risk/reward of losing all your shit potentially if you die in the same place twice. Like you'd still have to learn how to defeat enemies. You just wouldn't get mad as fuck losing all your souls all the time.

Had an urge to listen to Social D today:

So active I just forgot. You have the power to PIN things, you realize? On the X-Men thing, I'm not totally surprised but I don't think that's completely set in stone either. I don't want them to rush something out that's garbage so having a 1 or 2 year turnaround was not in the cards anyway. I am actually hoping the first Fox property is Fantastic Four. They need to do right by them because they've had 3 movies and one of them was okay at best.

Second one is definitely the one I would have in my head if it's truly all we were going to get.

Vodka is alright but I can understand not really being into any specific one. Secret to vodka is just not having shitty vodka and you're good to go.

Stealing Matt's topic idea for movies and converting to games. Let's boogie. Don't just vote, tell us WHY. I'm not including Survive because no one played that game and it's stupid and pointless to ask about. Favorite has to be MGS3. The story, the characters, the jump in gameplay. It was still fairly stealth focused then and everything about that game is so fucking memorable. Surprisingly I'd give a second place to MGSV. It's not a great MGS game but it was really fucking fun in general. Least favorite are the Metal Gear Acid games. I fucking hate card games and I think Chax had me try it and it was exactly what I thought it would be.

Yeah sometimes I'd sit in motherbase and listen and other times I'd be running around a mission doing shit while I listened like Bioshock.
-
Yeah those are great ideas too. I think they should try to do this but I will say, I'd never say they should have to do it at the expense of their vision for the game. I just think the easier difficulties have some value. If you're going to do a shitty job, just don't bother, right?

You ever play Diablo 2 and stuff back in the day? It's strange for me to even think of playing the game on a controller after the disgusting number of hours I've put into both D2 and D3.
-
I don't believe that's actually true. I think with some inventiveness you can find ways around it. Selecting easy mode in a Souls game could be as simple as giving you extra stats and equipment to start. Again, there are multiple ways to approach a problem. Claiming that it's impossible because difficulty is all the game about is partly missing what the game is about. I think people get annoyed by these arguments because it sounds like people patting themselves on the back (I know that's not your intention). The game is about more than "being hard" and you can find creative ways to make it easier for people that are looking for it.

You ever play on PC? I was tempted to get it on Switch but I realized that I don't really like playing that game alone.
-
You do actually. You aren't a total dick. It's just funny. When we play with someone new I'd say: "David can you slow down a bit?" "No just hurry the fuck up"

I've only watched a little here and there (I really need to sit down and just watch the whole series) but one of the most ridiculous scenes

Your argument is that they tried, people didn't like it, so they should never try again. There's more than one way to skin a cat, my dude.

Anyone actually use Linux? Just looking to see who dabbles. Maybe post about new stuff occasionally if there is anyone. How long? Since highschool I've been tinkering with it on and off. Which distros? Ubuntu and Arch Linux primarily. For what? I use Ubuntu for web server stuff because it's stable and has good community support (i.e. community PACKAGES for weird stuff) and I use Arch for my desktop install and my media center stuff. You try gaming on it lately? So I've been tinkering around a bunch as of late and the work that Valve and friends have done via Steam and Proton (a WINE fork) is nothing short of incredible. Not only do we have a lot of native Linux games, but you can launch games through Steam and its own version of WINE. I was able to launch like weird old stuff (Vampire the Masquerade) and new stuff (Devil May Cry 5...with a quick patch for a problem it had playing WMV videos lol). I am really impressed with how far the gaming stuff has come now.

Margaritas are definitely nice especially here where they are frequently part of happy hours and taco Tuesday. Oh yeah baby.

Oh man how did I forget The Mist? I fucking loved that movie.

Yeah I've definitely run into that lol. The song they sample is like A REALLY good song and you're like... Why am I isn't listening to this instead of that really good song?
-
Could always slap Linux on that thing. What distros did you use?
