I figured it had already been greenlit. That's good. I'd be pissed if they left it like that lol.

They were one of the earlier examples of this. Right at the beginning of the explosion. I can forgive them being a bit late to the party there. It is a long time coming though. Granted the pre sequel was a thing but no one really counts that as something new. Was basically a big DLC for BL2.

@Revolver They can do that. Anyone can do anything. @Galeigh There's nothing WRONG with wanting an easy difficulty. You might say sometimes it can be... Difficult to do it right so maybe they should git gud. I don't think anyone is demanding they do it and no one wants to see games watered down. If a game is crappy because they can't balance the difficulties they chose to put in it correctly then it's just a bad game. No one is stupid for wanting the option of lowering the difficulty. That git gud mentality is what keeps people from trying these things out tbh. Also let's be cool here. Starting to get a little angry in here.

What makes sitting around listening to audio tapes fundamentally different from sitting around listening to codec conversations? The non codec stuff is pretty much the same as any MGS game imo. Just to be clear here, I think you have a valid complaint and good ideas on how it could be better. I just don't think this is bad enough that it makes the game bad. That's all I'm saying. It's an annoyance, but it did not impact my enjoyment of the game in any meaningful way. To each their own but I have a hard time understanding why that would ruin anything you know? See in my mind, this is MGS + other stuff rather than "Not MGS" as you're viewing it. Many of the elements of MGS are still intact in a different way but ultimately, you want stealth? You can play it as a stealth game. The other systems on top are simply on top of the game. Instead of randomly finding the Stinger missile at a certain point in the game, you unlock it by actually doing something. The move to an open world necessitated that certain paradigms had to change to suit it. Boss fights and such you might be right about. That is probably THE most un-MGS-like part of the game. I don't remember boss fights at all which fairly well tells you all you need to know. I really just remember fighting those crazy fucking soldier alien whatever the fuck things. So bosses and main villains are not in the forefront like a typical MGS game I'll definitely give you. It changes how the game feels. I still think in general the game was immensely fun. More than I was expecting. Saying it's bad "as an MGS game" is a puzzling sentiment to me. Did you like the game? Then it was a good MGS game in my mind. It's actually nice to see it makes some big changes. There's a reason I only played Far Cry 3 and still haven't been back to the series since then. They're all the same shit, different day.

Mead is pretty good.

Let's leave that one behind where it belongs. Luna is napping right now. I'm watching Constantine because it's fun and I already forgot the story. Got that DC Universe subscription. Costco has pretty good frozen burgers. Had one for lunch. Tried making bacon on the grill just to see if it would work. It didn't really work.

That is quite nice.

That's all background though. You don't actually NEED that to get the main story of the game. It just adds to it. There is still a lot of weird shit going on in the foreground that tells the story of the game and it's VERY MGS-y. I can understand your objections here but I don't think the story sucks or doesn't exist because of the stuff on the tapes...that being said maybe it's because I listened to each tape as I got it that changes my perspective? It all kind of blends together with me so maybe when I play through it again at some point I'll have more specific thoughts. This is hard to really complain about. Part of this is because you go back to mother base to do stuff and you want to do that here and there anyway. It would be nice to have the option to stay in the field and do the next mission (or take several at once). I thought at points you did actually get to do that but I can understand this complaint. As someone who doesn't ever finish GTA campaigns or like them all that much, I'd have to disagree with calling it a shitty version of GTA. It has its problems but I don't really see it. I guess this really did not bother me as much as you for whatever reason. I actually enjoyed this. It's a gameplay system I tend to enjoy. Gave me stuff to work towards (and it wasn't just plans, there were parts and shit you needed to do things for). It's a series of fetch quests in a sense, perhaps, but it gives you some goals to go for. I remember specifically going for the sniping tranq and then the silencer for it as soon as I could. I liked it. The skilled people thing didn't bother me either. At first it was a bit much but I got the hang of it and I parachuted out a lot of people too. Especially since I took great pains to tranq people and not get alerts. Some of this stuff you're just being nitpicky though. It's a videogame. THAT is why you have to do the things. I can understand that it's annoying that it takes so much effort for things though. I found that I didn't necessarily have to go that far out of my way as I engaged with all the mechanics in the game at once as I went through the game. It flowed pretty well for me. I also sat there inspecting the help for an amount of time that is actually surprising to me. I don't know why that didn't bother me. I can completely understand why you may not love that. Its been a while so I don't remember this. More details in spoilers maybe?

Yeah I agree. When an entire game gets watered down because it is "too complicated" or whatever shit that generally just makes the game more bland and boring. Difficulty in gameplay can be toned down. Getting rid of meaningful systems in a game just makes it suck (that doesn't include stupid things that were not necessary in the first place like fucking stamina systems).
-
Interactive story. Choose your own adventure. You're still playing the game, easy difficulty doesn't literally play it for you. You're exploring the world, using the gameplay elements, and you know, playing the game. It's just not particularly difficult. Or maybe you just suck and easy is still a challenge. Lots of different reasons here.
-
More to the point, who says a challenge in a video game is what's fun? Maybe they just want to experience it and that's what it sunf. Video games are escapism just like movies, books, comics, etc. You don't have to be hitting your head against a wall to have fun, right?
-
MGS3 definitely does not have the most perfect gameplay. Some of those elements got annoying. I agree with USSJ though that an auto camo thing would have really been nice. I'd also just drop the fucking stamina completely. It wasn't TOO hard to deal with (though I didn't play on hard) but it was still an annoyance.
-
100% accurate Sometimes I'd restart the mission though.
-
That's not really an argument against HAVING easier difficulties. If you enjoy the harder stuff....play the harder stuff. Why would the existence of an easier option ruin anything whatsoever for you who likes to play on hard?
-
Hey whoa now. Come on. I'm with @Psycho666Soldier on this one. There are a lot of changes to the MGS "formula" per se but the nonsense story ties right in with all the other nonsense stories and the gameplay freedom is so nice. I liked that there were multiple approaches for each thing. You could still do it stealthily if you wanted and that lives up to the spirit of things while giving you a LOT more to do in general than JUST sneaking around. I'm actually hankering the play it again and bought it cheap on PC a little while back.

Guess this series wasn't as popular as I thought. I'll choose something a little more mainstream for the next one probs.
-
You can make a game easier by giving more health, giving enemies less health, adjusting the AI some, etc. You have to put effort into it of course but it can be done without compromising the normal difficulty. They shouldn't cater to people though if it's going to compromise the main game. I just don't think that, if they give a shit, it will do that.
-
I did look at Solus a bit but yeah, I'm a little suspicious of that kinda stuff lol. Plus its very few people and they have no upstream distro.

Per player loot drops in Borderlands 3. Good change. Thank fuck. Lol.

66 was going to be 63 until you slipped in a no word post for 63 instead

64 @Tassifox ...keep at it.

Oh yeah I didn't even think of wine. I'll make a quick edit in the first post. I do not drink wine generally. @Stinkfist what's your favorite wine tho?

@Olly WHY IS M NOT POSTING HERE YET. I love him. My decorating style is modern furniture and such whenever possible and affordable....not going to fucking Copenhagen to buy a 1000 dollar desk but instead Ikea! I do like wood mixed in with that stuff. For the walls, vintage comics. The vintage stuff looks a lot classier. I've got some pictures on the wall of my den. I'll clean up and take pictures of the room. There are a LOT of comic books so also the other thing you said...A PLACE FOR ALL THE BOOKS!!!
