Just found this gem at my work. I copped it quick I also picked up some Ohio Players, Isley Brothers, DJ Shadow, De La Soul, Frank Zappa, and some Classical stuff, but that was the prized possession of the day

Well, Happy Birthday anyway!

I was kinda hoping it would be the proper end, too. But I think capping it as a Part 1 is a good way to go. They had a very satisfying ending to a story they started and ended without dragging out. So if they want to keep it going, at least they can move on to completely new ideas and toy around with that, rather than trying to milk a story that died a good while before.

What out-of-season anime have you watched recently?

I actually didn't realize there was a movie, though I know there are little spin-offs. I'll see where I can find it! -
1?) Pokemon Alpha Sapphire (Completed Hoenn Dex) 2) Mega Man X(Legacy Collection) 3) Mega Man X2(Legacy Collection) Just beat it about an hour ago. Arguably better than the first one in a few departments. Bosses are mostly harder, especially without the weaknesses, and the inclusion of the X-Hunters and the side plot there made the game feel a bit more epic. Story-wise, the end is kind of meh, and Zero and the first version of Sigma are surprisingly pretty easy. But needing to hit the final form of Sigma with the full charge in order to do damage made that last part a pain in the ass. I think music is overall better, too. Might doodle around on X3, but it's not a priority of mine.

Fuck, the feels on the last Dr. Stone I told you about that animation lol. I had a similar moment of kind of losing the plot for a bit once the people you were growing to learn started dying and pieces started shifting a bit. That's about the same point I hit a wall with the series and kind of stopped reading for a bit. But the last leg of the story pivots in a direction that puts it back on track. The final 10 or so chapters are a fucking treat to read through, and I was on the edge of my seat with hype when I was reading it weekly. More reason I think the anime will do it justice as both clearer/more awesome action scenes and a second pass on the plot for manga readers.

Finished Haruhi. Pretty fun ride, but man, the arc where they show the filming of the movie just kinda proves Haruhi is kind of a piece of shit. Literally the only reason people put up with her abuse is because she's an unpredictable god and Kyon is hopelessly in love with her for some reason he can't quite figure out. Koizumi is the ultimate fuckboy and is one of the most depressed assholes I've ever seen. Yuki and Mikuru can do no wrong, though. -
1?) Pokemon Alpha Sapphire (Completed Hoenn Dex) 2) Mega Man X(Legacy Collection) Found an 8BitDo SNES controller at my job and decided to test it out on my Switch. This turned into me beating Mega Man X within 24 hours. Maybe the first time I actually beat the final form of Sigma? It's hard to remember because the ending wasn't really familiar to me. Still one of my favorite games of all time. Mostly a breeze for me to get through these days after playing for a long time, but Sigma took quite a few tries. Currently in the middle of X2. First time I've ever played through this far. I unfortunately missed a Zero part, but that technically means more content to enjoy. Currently going through the final X-Hunter stages. I may follow-up with X3, but I kinda want to move on to other games.

The first one was great particularly because it didn't take itself seriously and you could tell they were having fun with it. Plus, Tom Hardy actually does a really good modern Eddie Brock.
-
Oh man, enjoy the fucking ride. I had one little brief run of fatigue when I caught up to current about halfway through, bit it hooked me right back in once I picked it up again. Really is a standout.

I watched like the first 7+ episodes of Assassination Classroom, and it was kind of amusing, but it never really struck me as must-see. I could have probably wrote a short thesis on what I felt was missing from it back when I watched it, but fuck if I could detail it now lol. So when Elusive Samurai first debuted, it was already fighting an uphill battle with me.
-
Ok, that does sound pretty interesting. I'll probably give the next few chapters a whirl some time soon in that case.
-
Yeah, I tried The Elusive Samurai, and there were parts I liked about it, but it didn't really hold me past Chapter 4. Let me know what you end up thinking. If you think it's worth it, I might pick it back up.

I just remembered you recommended those Pixies albums to me, and I popped on Come On Pilgrim and forgot I really enjoy "Caribou" Also, as a person who normally thinks of vocals as secondary, I don't blame you for listening to D'Angelo for the basslines
-
Did you ever read Chainsaw Man? It's a big recommend if you haven't. That said, with the anime coming out this year, it might be better to just wait for that. I have a feeling the anime could do some of the action panels more justice than the manga did. It's one of those manga where the black-and-white pallette doesn't always serve the details well.
-
Never get tired of listening to Headhunters. I have recently been digging into some D'Angelo after someone in one of my music classes had been going on about how good he is. And I have to admit, the man does some cool stuff with vocals harmonies.

I mean, some would argue DC is superior anyway. Not me, but don't sell your nerd cred short yet! I actually enjoyed GoG2 more than most. I thought it was just as good as the first one, with my only real complaint being that it felt they leaned a bit too hard on Drax being comic relief. In the first one, he was this ultra serious character that didn't realize how silly he sounded at times. In the sequel, you could tell they wrote it with the idea of him being the funny one, and it just kind of changed the character for me. Overall, I still really enjoyed it, but I also haven't seen it since I was back in theaters, so opinions could be different on a rewatch.

I think I might go ahead and open up the first chapter of Tokyo Ghoul to remind myself to read it some time soon.

Never read/watched Tokyo Ghoul, but the cover art grabbed my attention, so I'll probably check it out.

I'm still about halfway through my catch up. Binged for a hot minute then took a break as school started ramping up. I think I'm still around episode 23.

Yeah, I don't really have an interest in watching any other Isekai other than Slime Datta Ken. I've been watching through The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya for the first time recently. It is a trip to say the least. Watching in the original order, and just finished the Endless 8. I can't imagine enjoying that arc if you had to wait for it week to week
