Well, Ma ended up getting it, soooo...

I like Tsukasa on his own well enough. Hyoga I think works as a generic threat, but he doesn't have a lot of depth past that. That said, I don't really think he needs to have much depth, just a threatening dude with a specialized spear that knows how to handle it better than anyone else. I'll agree on the rest, though. I don't think the rest of the enemies at this point are particularly interesting, but I think the scenarios coming up makes up for that when you have such a strong protagonist cast. Mild spoiler of buzzbomb's interest(Not heavily plot-related, but could imply certain conclusions)

I told you Chrome is great.

Yeah, this may have been the best episode so far. A lot of great gooks, decent surprises, well paved character arcs and angles that both have ramifications for the following week and future developments. They also really struck a hard balance on the wrestling:promo/angle time. Almost everything felt to be in the right doses.

[11/07/19] Weekly What Have You Been Listening To?
Psycho666Soldier replied to Vic Boss's topic in Music
Still been on a big hip-hop kick. Was listening to Czarface Meets Ghostface yesterday. It's a really good album with some great beats and clever lines, but I don't think it quite reaches the highs of previous efforts. I'm still holding out for the next Czarface "solo" album, aka the Czarface group with no special guests. I was revisiting some Death while looking for songs to do for my next transcription project. Was kind of skimming through Symbolic and forgot how good "Misanthrope" is. A couple time signature changes that are interesting, and just great riffing. For anyone not typically into Death Metal who can appreciate complex music, this specific song might not wet your whistle, but the entire Symbolic album is a musical journey. -
We definitely should.

In reading up about this, a Forbes article made an interesting point. Vince was 19 when the Jim Crow laws were abolished, so by the time he was an adult, those values were just baked into him. So yeah, like you said, it's not that he's anti-black or anything. He just doesn't realize/care that he exploits them.

Just read up on the whole issue as well. It seems like the whole thing is a mess. ACH clearly has a reason to be upset, but the circumstances with him apparently approving it until it came out definitely muddies the situation. It feels like there's more here, like this is the catalyst to other things that have been bothering him. I also think the intentions of WWE definitely make a difference of whether this should have been made public. If either the samboism was intentional or this is the final straw in a string of racial injustices he's experienced, then WWE fully deserves to be put on blast. But if it's an isolated incident that is more a case of WWE corporate not realizing how insensitive it is to represent a black guy with smiling red lips(according to Myles, the initial idea was a sort of parody of the Rolling Stones logo), then maybe it would be better to take this as a moment of education behind closed doors. Of course, that ignores WWE's history of racially insensitive content, so they probably deserve to be called out in general. And I think this definitely hints at more problems he's already been dealing with behind the curtain.

What's the story with ACH? Has he been tweeting some shit?

I'm pretty sure that's one detail they completely gloss over.

[10/24/19] Weekly What Have You Been Listening To?

AMostly been on my Wu-Tang kick still. I won't bother anyone with the 36 Chambers shit because anyone who cares has probably heard that album ad nauseum. And while I don't think any group album since has surpassed it, I've been digging into some stuff that at least hits. And The Saga Continues hits. It's all produced by mathematics instead of RZA(the dude who created the W symbol), and there are some good jams on here. Feels closer to a proper Wu album than anything after The W. Was turned on to it after this track played in the credits of an episode of An American Saga: Also spent my work day on Tuesday listening to Wu Tang Forever, which I think is a mostly good album. I feel had they made it a single LP instead of the double album, they could have cut out a lot of the filler and had a tighter, more satisfying album. Some tracks just don't really grab me, and the beats a lot of times feel meandering. But the tracks that are great are excellent, and could easily stand up to the rest of the library. One of my favorites just so happens to be the first single, including one of the best verses from Inspectah Deck: Obviously, I've been jamming a lot of their solo albums(particularly Liquid Swords and Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...), but to break up the pattern a bit, I listened to some clipping. Such a unique hip-hop act. Different beats that the closest thing I can think to compare them to is Death Grips, and Daveed Diggs has a crazy flow. For those that don't know, Diggs plays Thomas Jefferson in Hamilton. Also, their video concepts are insane: -
TV Taping in my town in December. Already have tickets. I'm pretty hyped. I thought I'd have to wait until the next time they come around to Chicago some time next year.

I'll have to give those A listen. Only real reason I know of Jaco is because of Trio of Doom. Dude definitely knows his way around a bass. -

I relate to this so hard. Did you first hear this from Luke Cage? -

As an addendum, I just finished another run of Crack the Skye, and I think I still have underrated it. It's quickly growing on me. -

School has been ridiculous, so I haven't had the chance to play anything. Tis sad. I might try to actually beat Sans in Undertake again this weekend, but I don't think I'll have time. -
[10/17/19] Weekly What Have You Been Listening To?

Meant to post in the last one, but I had listened to something I had planned to mention, and couldn't remember what it was. My Mastodon kick persisted longer. Was listening to Blood Mountain and Crack the Skye. I severely underrated those albums, particularly Crack the Skye. Just a constantly evolving Mastodon getting musically better with each album. That said, I think I still prefer Blood Mountain. But who knows? Maybe this means I can give The Hunter another run and actually come out liking it? Probably my favorite track from the two albums: Been jamming some El-P also. I never ended up giving Cancer 4 Cure a proper listen because I'd always hear the first track and get a bit uninterested. It was a fine song, just felt like too basic of a "techno" beat to make me feel the rest of the album would be the typical production genius we get from El-P. I did really like "The Full Retard," though, and having now listened to the whole thing...hot damn, that's a really good album. The couple features are handled really well, some thought-provoking lyrics as usual, and the beats are just so damn hot. The song that's stuck with me the most is definitely Drones Over Bklyn: Also listened to a specific track from an old British thrash band called Sabbat. I'm not very big into their stuff as a whole, and I've only heard and owned one album. But that one song is a perpetual classic for me. I first heard it as a Cradle of Filth cover, and it was always one of the few CoF songs I actually liked. It wasn't until I bought the album it was on that I realized it was a cover, and I had to seek the original out. Nothing like some extreme metal talking about The Salem Witch Trials. The hook is infectious, and I absolutely love the sample at the beginning: I've also been going on a big Wu Tang kick since I've been watching An America Saga, but I could post so much from that, so I'll probably save some of the for next week. -
I want that purely for the DAW.

I am not in the know. Share the dirty deets.

Excuse me. Lio Rush album introducing the All Mighty Bobby Lashley was pure gold, and I'll hear nothing else.

I haven't yet watched the new episode, but based on what happens, I'm so excited about the exposition the show is about to dive into. The tournament arc is one of my favorite parts of the manga. Not because it's a tournament and those are always hype for Shonen, but rather it's the first time we get more of a taste of what the story can do when it's a bit more action-oriented. And what's wonderful about it for me is how well it blends the scientific elements with true combat. It's not the last time we get it, but it is the first time it becomes a primary focus.

I will say that ending makes me consider just skipping out on SmackDown and sticking to RAW, NXT and Dynamite. The rest of the show was pretty good. Loved parts of it. But I have zero interest in the WWE Title scene.
