Self isolation, social distancing, sheltering in place, whatever else you call it
Lucy replied to dr. b's topic in General Insanity
That sounds absolutely anxiety-inducing It's Edinburgh Fringe Festival month over here and I am staying away from the city for similar reasons ...to be fair I haven't been in the city since the pandemic began but I think I'll hold off another month -
Self isolation, social distancing, sheltering in place, whatever else you call it

I am gradually breaking my 'seal', have isolated myself pretty hardcore (out of fear more than direct danger) Trying not to over stress about it, and also to figure out how to wrestle with my work to stay working from home as much as I can, but I'm not above trying to change jobs if it comes down to it.. had a very frank talk with my team leader today where those exact words weren't said but heavily implied -
EIZAN! Happy Birthday Texas!

This genuinely saddened me, I always loved his bass sounds. One of my faves: ZZ Top - Mescalero

It never fails to tickle me how your luxuriously fluffy cats are called STEVE and PETE ??

I've been reading a lot of random manga recently, just finished "Yankee-kun & Megane-chan". Had some pretty funny points, but the ending was... not great

HEY, boomers are a couple generation above, thanks! 80s He-Man/She-Ra is old-millennial territory. I am literally one of the first wave of He-Man/She-Ra watchers, literally ran around the play park yelling the 80s She-Ra theme. I love both the 80s franchises and the newest ones; 80s ones were glorified toy commercials in a lot of ways, but I'm still fond of them; I have to admit that Princesses of Power and Revelations have really outdone themselves though, great additions to the franchises.

Finished it, loved everything about it! Basically the crux of it was that they took the franchise in a completely different direction than Revelations did, aesthetically and universally; they aimed for a younger audience and made it stand-alone, not tying in to the 80s franchise in terms of visuals or story. Like 666 says, there's also a strong element that were angry that it was "too PC", with people of all different ethnicities, ages, sexualities and body shapes.

One day late on the forums but HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIDS

Ma guided me through the OG Gundam universe, it's great The later non-OG series like Wing are good, too, but there's a reason Universal Century OG Gundam has staying power! I have a big soft spot for Wing too as it was My First Gundam. The dark horse of the franchise that you should also check out is G Gundam, which is ridiculous and I love it; it's essentially about Gundam pit fighting with a heavy wrestling influence, and some really cheesy drama thrown in!

Gundam Hathaway 1 was pretty good! Production values were high and the characters were interesting, and the Sawano Hiroyuki soundtrack was impeccable.

I have a few bookmarked, and another D&D Discord I'm in has a specifically-good-for-TTRPG ones in their own channel to catalogue them! Normally I just browse the main picrew page and roll with what I find, but I could def grab you a list!

Hrrm I dunno how I feel about the pad controls being up so high on the body, looks like it might be awkward to hold if you have wee square hands like me Will keep an eye on more deets though

It's been a hot minute since this finished, and now I've reread the manga for comparison I'm a bit more clear on my final thoughts for the series. All in all, it's a fantastic adaptation; having author Takaya Natsuki on board as an executive really helped keep it in line, and apart from a few wonk scenes the production was consistently good-looking. I laughed and cried about as many times as I did watching this adaptation as I did reading the manga, so that's a good benchmark! A few more deets below: Positives - Styling One of Ms Takaya's provisos for permission to make this adaptation was "don't make it look like my art too closely, the manga is 20 years old and it makes me cringe"; they followed that perfectly in my opinion, keeping the character designs an 'echo' of her style rather than matching it, but still mirroring all the important and iconic manga panels that people know and love in structure. - Comedy Fruits Basket is full of Feels, yes, but it also has great comedy interludes, which were well handled here. Especially fond of the fact they kept the "outline" chibis from the manga, and really went all-out on things like Ayame's comedy. - Casting This was another proviso of Takaya's, a whole new voice cast, and it went extremely well for me. Pretty much everyone knocked it out of the park, but my faves were the Main Three (Tohru's Iwami Manaka, Yuki's Shimazaki Nobunaga, Kyo's Uchida Yuuma), Sakurai Takahiro as Ayame, Han Megumi as Momiji, Sawashiro Miyuki as Kyoko, and the fucking inspired casting of the "big bads" of the Sohma clan, Orikasa Ai as Ren and Sakamoto Maaya as Akito. Negatives Honestly, there were only two negatives for me: - Minor scene alterations Nothing major was changed, but just here or there were a couple of things; like leaving a comedic tweak out of a more serious scene, which changed the tone of it a bit. - Skipped content/Single Cour "The Final" This is the big one for me. There were a few scenes and parts that were left out, presumably for brevity's sake since The Final was only 13 episodes, and while I'm not devastated, it did give me a little disappointment. Some of these are manga spoilers; the non spoiler version is that some scenes with the Student Council were scrapped and we don't see Kyoko and Katsuya's past. The full version is manga spoilers, thoughts below: SHORT VERSION: This was so good, and I feel blessedâ„¢? to have been able to watch it :')

I won't be able to use HeroForge easily I'm afraid, my ancient computer almost can't handle it since it put in all those nice 3D background updates, lol. It is a great tool though! BUT I have approximately a billion picrews at my disposal so can easily come up with a character pic!
