Yeah! Congrats! Comet's back from the vet - a bit tired and dopey from the anaesthetic still, but his teeth were fine so he's all in one piece. He's just had a scale and polish.

That doesn't sound fun. Hope it goes ok and that you can have a treat afterwards! Comet's going to the vet tomorrow to get his teeth looked at - they seem ok in themselves but for a young dog he's got quite a lot of tartar on his back teeth.. so the vet's going to get rid of it and check the rest of his mouth out while he's there.

I'm not saying corgis are more difficult to train than huskies - far from it, training a husky is probably harder. But there's probs more demand for husky-types in Hollywood (I'm guessing that'll be where most of this will be filmed) - especially as they can double up as cheapo "wolves" fairly easily; so animal actor agencies will have more of that sort of dog available to choose from. Of course they will be thinking about it stylistically too, but from the production company's perspective it's not about how easy different breeds are to train, it'll be how easy it'll be to find an already-trained example of that breed (they're not likely to train a dog themselves, and doing an exhaustive search for the perfect dog would take more time and therefore more cash). I can totally imagine the staff being like "well, everyone thinks huskies are cool anyway, and it'll be easier to find one and to film one of those than a smaller and much less common breed, so let's go with that".

My guesses as to why they've switched Ein for a husky - although part of it probably is that they know people think huskies are kewl, it's probably also partly convenience; I'm gonna hazard a guess that it's a lot easier to find huskies already trained for movie and TV work than corgis (though maybe The Crown could spare a few corgs... there must be some in that, lol), and a bigger dog is probably going to be easier to keep in shot next to human actors in a variety of scenes. It's still rubbish that they're changing him, though. EDIT: ...though I have just actually read the article and that husky is super cute.

I really hope they pay the animators well for having to change several key bits of the main character in presumably a tight turnaround time... #fixitfast (though if anyone wants a much cuter story about hedgehogs then you know where to look, haha )

Thanks folks! That's good to know. Same! ...I'm one of the minority who really liked the GameCube one too, even though it took such a different approach (it didn't get all the gameplay right but it was so sweet and atmospheric). Though those two came out at around the same time, I think...the games have been more confused since then. I do have the 1st Story of Seasons on 3DS but I don't think I really got into it for some reason. I'm a sucker for aesthetics, though, and this one looks great.

I've been wondering if the AC special edition will end up being one of the new, cheaper Switch models... it might partly explain why we've had zero Animal Crossing news since the very first teaser; they may well want to reveal the new Switches at E3 and Animal Crossing might tie into that (especially as it's seen to be a more casual game, so possibly a good fit for the cheaper model). I kind of hope not, though, especially if the people speculating that the cheap one'd be handheld-only are correct! I really want a cute Animal Crossing Switch and I'm planning to hold out on buying my own Switch until I know if I can get it... but if it's a different model I'll need to make sure the specs aren't terrible in comparison to the current one . I suppose if the cheap one was handheld-only but otherwise good then I could just make sure I got my AC game on a physical cartridge, then use our current Switch if I wanted to play it on the big screen.

If Animal Crossing is still coming in 2019 (pleeease ) there's going to be such a glut of good and cute games. Speaking of which, I hope they announce a special Animal Crossing edition Switch... would love to splurge my birthday money on one this year!

I had to work all through Easter and the weather outside was really beautiful. I made my deadline but now it's cold and rainy and will probably stay that way over this weekend. At least there's still leftover Easter chocolate to eat!

I spent too big a chunk of my life so far thinking there was a Neil Diamond song called "Reverend Blue Jeans". Like, it was about a cool young vicar. Money talks But it don't sing and dance And it don't walk ? And long as I can have you Here with me, I'd much rather be Reverend blue jeans ...I mean, vicars and Christians in general aren't supposed to care too much about money, so it kind of works...

Not Nintendo-exclusive content, but... Apparently Doraemon: Story of Seasons (???) is coming to Nintendo Switch in Autumn? (how did I not know this was a thing? ) And in English! Not sure what to make of it, but gosh the art is pretty. The watercolour effect of the landscape looks so convincing! The dilemma will be whether to get this or to wait for a non-Doraemon Story of Seasons down the line.

Ah, you mean like the battle mode? I never liked that much (prefer endless chasing, lol) but I can see how that'd be a really positive change if you're into it.

I loved Woolly World so I really want it! I'm sure I'll get it at some point but we're not even that far through Mario Odyssey yet, so it might have to wait (though if it goes 33% off in the eShop at any stage we'll probably get it).
