dumbass family update: one of my dumbass uncles either has COVID or out of control diabeetus (or both, let's be fair) and everyone's waiting with bated breath for results and having flashbacks to the gathering they just had like a week or so ago and now suddenly they're all super worried about this and I'm just like lol y'all know i'm not coming to any funerals right fucking shitheads. i'm mad. lol.

Way back in whenever talk was starting to heat up about this potentially being a big problem Lee told his work bye, I work from home now and that was that. We've been pretty strict on isolation unless we have to get groceries (delivery and pickups had no slots for a while so we just masked up and sanitized after outings.) We're both introverted homebodies so while things didn't change much it's still really getting to us. Even we want out sometimes. The most infuriating thing is my family. They've been having family get togethers (it's ok because it's family!) and done dumb shit like gone to the beach in groups and sent me texts the whole time bitching that there were teenagers on the beach without masks like ??????????? THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE DOING TOO, DIPSHIT I've been getting irate and scolding them for it but after Father's Day when Dad called and I could hear the loud everyone-cozy-in-the-kitchen party in the background I Got Mad. There was an article about a family that had spread COVID among themselves after a few of them held a party and then visited other relatives. I think it was 18 members of one family tested positive or something dumb. I sent it to my dad and was like THIS IS WHY I'M MAD, STAY HOME. and 3 days later he announces to me that all family gatherings in the near future are postponed. Dumbasses. He and Mom have tightened up their isolation too so now I get texts from him with gems like "Sitting home all day is a bunch of bull" which is basically the equivalent of my dad saying a big fat swear word. He also tells me every day to stay home and be safe and if I didn't know him as well as I do I'd think he was being sarcastic because I yelled at him >> but yes, Dad, the answer is the same as it's been "We've never stopped isolating and aren't about to stop" Shit sucks. Texas has just laid a big fat dookie as far as reacting to this so when we're all dead please make sure to come feed my cats.

THESE ESSAYS SUCK, I NEED AT LEAST 60000000 WORDS we're the same way about presents, if there's something we really want then we just go on and get it or encourage the other to get something they want. There's always some big thing we want to squirrel for each year but our family doesn't think it's quite as fun to just give us money, which is fair. I mean part of exchanging presents is enjoying picking something out or getting to see someone receiving it or whatever after all! For the past few years Lee's gift to me has been letting me buy a large quantity of flash-frozen burritos from my favorite place in Alabama to bring home with us at Thanksgiving. It is a very weird tradition but a delicious one. BURRITOOOOOOOOOOOOS My parents gave us money to go towards getting new phones since both of ours were needing replacing, so we went on and got those on Black Friday to get a discount, so we've been enjoying Christmas since November. I got a very nice purse from my MIL as well as some money and some more money from the other in-laws, will be using some of it to upgrade art tablet and maybe get some monitor stands and stuff, trying to revamp my drawing space a bit but no solid plans so cash is very nice. A bit of it is earmarked for upcoming vidya games in 2020 because everything I want is coming out in like.... March so not really ideal for Christmas gifts under the tree but eh. AND THAT'S MY CHRISTMAS RAMBLING

update: Friend is OK now, still lots of rocky days ahead tho. MAHA WAS OLD AND DIDN'T COME TO ICONCON SO HE IS DEAD TO ME FOREVER no deer have crashed through any windows here, although we did have a whole bunch of tornados pass by us last week. Closest one was like... a mile away or something dumb. We're fine, and amazingly no one was killed even though there was lots of damage so \o/ fuck you tornado
