Candy Flurry #14 — I figured this chapter would focus on Tsumugi, and I was looking forward to that, but the focus was instead on Irie. I won’t complain, she’s a pretty cool character The Elusive Samurai #26 — The political stuff in the first half was a bit of a bore, but it is a part of world this story takes place in. I like the mission that has been setup for the Elusive Warriors though. Should be some more action and excitement in the next couple chapters. Hunter’s Guild #5 — I think they got me hooked. I wanna know about witches and werewolves, magic, the Red List, etc. I am a sucker for this underdog kind of story. Go join the guild, Velou!
  2. Gotta figure that lots of people may never return to regular office work. So many jobs can be done remotely just fine. But some managers are sticklers for attendance, so it will take a while yet to convince those types that there’s nothing wrong with remote work.

    Today's Birthdays - Eizan

    Happy birthday Eizan!
  5. I guess we’ll find out soon if 70% is adequate. The delta variant is apparently more transmissible, so that could be a problem. But we do need to abandon the pandemic protocols eventually… I am just not convinced that it’s wise to do it as quickly as Alberta is doing it. I’m fascinated to see how things play out over there… from a very safe distance here in Ontario
  6. Yeah the Cubs really cleaned house. I agree that this deadline was nuts. I gotta read through MLBTR later to get caught up on everything. Between the trade deadline and all the stuff happening during NBA draft night last night, there have been so many interesting transactions to follow along with.
  7. The Blue Jays are apparently trading for Jose Berrios and Joakim Soria. Looks like Soria has been decent in the DBacks bullpen this year. And Berrios should be a great addition to the starting rotation, though the cost of acquiring him wasn't cheap. I'm no prospect-hugger, so I'll trade prospects any day of the week to get a proven big leaguer, but the guys they traded for Berrios were regarded pretty highly in the Jays' farm system.
  8. Yeah, I thought after the rumours last night that Scherzer to the Pads was a done deal Turner is of course a great pick-up as well. I guess this is the Dodgers telling the Giants and Padres to GTFO (I'm still having trouble wrapping my mind about this Giants team being in first place...) This is not going to be the Blue Jays year, I don't think. It will take a very strong finish to even get into the Wild Card play-in I still think they can stay competitive, and maybe even fight their way into the WC game, but it ain't gonna be easy. Joey Gallo would have fit the Jays' *so* well... and now he's a Yankee Truly the worst possible outcome.
  9. Over in Alberta they are very close to pretty much scrapping all pandemic protocols and restrictions: “The province announced Wednesday that Alberta will soon have no mandatory COVID-19 protocols: no more mandatory masking, contact tracing or isolating. It's part of a move to treat the coronavirus more like other respiratory viruses.” I guess they will basically treat COVID the same as the flu and other viruses go around. I think they will still recommend people who test positive to isolate, but it will not be mandatory. Sounds like they will also cut down on testing, only testing people with severe symptoms. This might not end well, but good luck Alberta! Eventually I think we will all need to do the same, but it might be too soon. Especially in Alberta where vaccine uptake has perhaps not been high enough yet. I guess they will just live with people getting sick.
  10. Yeah it’s pretty busy! Looks like the Dads are trying to go all-in.

Pixel Remaster versions of the first three Final Fantasy games release soon… tomorrow maybe? 4-6 follow later in the year. I’ll probably buy FFV again And if the organizer of the Four Job Fiesta does a special event for another one of the games, I’ll be tempted to grab them too…
  14. I got my second dose last week. I was tired for a couple days, but that was it. Some story for the wife. Easy peasy.

    What listen ?

Had this one on repeat for days now. Working hard on learning the bass line. I'll never be able to play it like The Ox, but I will get as close as I can...
  17. After riding the nostalgia high of listening to pillows songs over and over again last week after I finished FLCL Progressive, I went ahead and re-watched the original FLCL again (for the second time this month ) Doesn't matter than I had just re-watched it like a week before, I loved every second of it. After that, I moved on to FLCL Alternative. I think I liked Progressive a bit better overall, but Alternative was alright. Neither are on the same level as the original, but both sequels had elements I enjoyed. Progressive had a stronger finish than Alternative IMO. Before I move on to something else from my old to-watch list, I gotta watch the Hathaway movie, and maybe that new anime movie on Netflix (soda pop something or other?)

There was nothing new this past Sunday (that I'm reading) on the Jump app except one shorter-than-usual chapter of Spy X Family...

    Summer Anime 2021

I’m basically watching nothing this summer. Aquatope, and then catching up on some old stuff. We’ll finish Digimon too, we’re just a few weeks behind.

The first ‘season’ is only four chapters so there’s not that much there to check out. I read them while I was bored watching my daughter do her swimming lessons this week

Yeah it's fun watching this group of characters come together and I am intrigued about what's up with the villains. Unrelated: I read Burn the Witch this week. I dunno why, just something to do I guess. It had some amusing and interesting elements, but that's about it. Apparently it is following a seasonal release schedule, so I think we're due soon for another mini-series of chapters, continuing from chapter #4. The first 'season' was August-September 2020... though I guess those chapters came closer to 2 years after the original one-shot.. so maybe the next run won't be as soon as I'm assuming. Whenever a new chapter pops up in the Jump app, I'll check it out.

Yeah it looks like we’re transitioning very quickly from triumph to tragedy in the next chapter
