Self isolation, social distancing, sheltering in place, whatever else you call it

Ontario apparently stopped using the Astrazeneca vaccine and we don't have enough of the non-blood-clot vaccines to go around, so we're just living in a perpetual stay-at-home order. Everyone is going nutty. My 2 year old got sent home from daycare on Tuesday because she had a runny nose. My work is getting fucking dumb due to all of the problems caused by COVID around the world. I have consumed a truly unhealthy amount of beer over the last couple weeks, and I don't see an end to any of this bullshit in sight -
2021 Baseball Season AKA Pandemic Baseball: The Second Wave

Next please talk about how good the Red Sox are. I'd like to see them go on a 10 game losing streak too -
Super Cub #6 -- Not the strongest episode in the series thus far, but there were some great moments anyhow.

I'm 6 or 7 chapters into Chainsaw Man, it's definitely a winner. My man's got his priorities straight

I read up to current. From around chapter 12 or 13 on, it was better again. I’ll stick it out a few weeks and see what happens next in the story. There are some cool elements. The next retainer to join Tokiyuki is pretty cool (ninjas are always cool!)

The next few chapters were not quite as good as I thought they would be. Not bad, but I guess I expected more I never read/watched Assassination Classroom, but I understand that a lot of people liked it, so I sorta feel like I should give The Elusive Samurai more of a chance based on the author's reputation. Won't hurt to read a few more chapters. Speaking of the author, I was reading up on him and saw that he previously was an assistant to the author of Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo. I found that kinda amusing. That's a series I have not thought about in a looooong time

Shigure sure know how to push people’s buttons Super curious to see what happens next week

I’m up to chapter 8 now. The last 2-3 chapters were better than the start. Tokiyuki and his retainers (the other kids) start bonding, go on a hunting trip and end up facing off with a demon. Now they want Tokiyuki to learn some combat skills, and he has to go undercover to learn archery from a dude that is trying to find and kill him, so he has to conceal identity and all that. The next few chapters should be exciting and suspenseful based on the setup. I sometimes don’t like period stuff like this where you have to learn historical terms, etc. but that element of it hasn’t been too bad so far.

2021 Baseball Season AKA Pandemic Baseball: The Second Wave

DeGrom going to the 10 day IL. Hopefully he’s back on the mound before too long. The Jays’ young pitching stud, Nate Pearson, has been absolutely terrible in his first couple appearances this year. He’s spent very little time in the big leagues so far, but this is a trend that goes back to last season. He’s been fantastic in the minors, and in his recent AAA rehab appearance he struck out 8 of 11 batters, but it’s like he loses control of his stuff when he takes the big league mound. Must be a mental thing. I hope he figures that shit out this summer. He could be really good. -
I noticed Chainsaw Man while browsing in the Jump app but haven’t started reading it yet. I’ll check it out this week. 96 chapters won’t take long to read through if I keep waking up in the middle of the night every night... I also started reading The Elusive Samurai last night. Only about 3 chapters in, so I don’t know all about it yet, but it’s interesting enough to keep reading. I like a good underdog story.

Yeah, I guess I'm the same. There are very few bands/singers where I actively listen to the vocal tracks. I'm usually just focused on the music. As for Pixies, I was thinking a bit more about that. Many of the great Pixies songs make pretty heavy use of the loud/quiet/loud (or vice versa) dynamic. Basically the style that Kurt Cobain was going for when he wrote "Smells Like Teen Spirit". I could think up some song recommendations along those lines if my brain would cooperate with me... it's been a stupid day at work

One of the worlds greatest session bass players - Pino Palladino - has done quite a bit of work with D'Angelo. I guess I've only really listened to D'Angelo's stuff for the purpose of listening to Pino's bass work, which seems kinda unfair now that I think about it... I guess I should look up D'Angelo on Spotify and really see what his music is about.

For a week now, it's been a whole lot of Echo and the Bunnymen in my rotation: But also some fusion jazz mixed in too:

Games against the Canucks are good for what ails you Just for funsies I checked Auston Matthews' splits. He's tagged the Canucks for 9 goals this season, but only 10 points overall. Guess he likes playing the Sens a bit better (9 goals, 16 points overall).

What out-of-season anime have you watched recently?
dr. b replied to Vic Boss's topic in Anime & Manga
I think it's worth a look! It wasn't a huge hit, but I really liked it. I think the common complaint from people was "nothing happens in this show" or something along those lines. It was a bit slower and atmospheric IIRC. Even when not much was happening, it was a beautiful thing to look at. I really liked the style. -
Make a thread in the Games forum about indie games and all will be well in the world again. It will probably get more activity than the indie wrestling thread. Most of us are interested in games but only a handful of folks here have wrestling brain.

Huh. You should give Tokyo Ghoul a look sometime. It was pretty cool. I thought the first chapter of Choujin X was solid.
-
First chapter of Choujin X is on the Shonen Jump app -- new manga from Sui Ishida. I never read the Tokyo Ghoul manga because I watched the anime, though IIRC there were differences so maybe I should go back and read that manga eventually... but I did read Ishida's HxH one-shot, Hisoka's origin story, and I thought it was really good. I like Ishida's style.

Between some sleepless nights this week and some other downtime, I got caught up on Dr. Stone. Chapter 195: From Treasure Island up to current: Candy Flurry #3
-
86 — This show is getting more interesting with the developments in this week’s episode. Nicely put together too (timing of the opening, transition into the ending song, etc.). I’m happy to keep watching.
-
Yeah we watched 4 episodes between yesterday and today, and they were all variations on the same theme. Everything since they saved Hikari and her Digimon has been pretty filler-y. Bump into Digimon in distress along the team’s travels, gotta save the poor things, uh-oh the bad guy is tough can they beat it?, yup of course they can. I hope it gets back on track and they encounter the real bad guys again soon.
-
Me and the kiddo are finally getting back to watching Digimon. Haven’t tuned in to it for like 2 months somehow We’re up to episode 44 now I think. The trash inventor is my new favourite Digimon

I am really enjoying TWEWY Also still digging Shadows House spooky vibes. Mia’s shadow is not cool Patrick / Ricky are jerks too.

I didn’t love this week’s episode of Vivy. Bummer about the memory loss after her reboot. Looks like we’ll get back to the good stuff next week though!
