What out-of-season anime have you watched recently?
dr. b replied to Vic Boss's topic in Anime & Manga
I agree that isekai can be very hit or miss. There are some good ones though. Did you watch Grimgar, @Chel ? I want to re-watch .hack//SIGN one of these days. Been nearly 20 years I remember thinking it was quite good. I’d like to see if it holds up. -
Wow! 1 PPG is still considered a benchmark of a good (very good? or at least very consistent?) player, right? Or has thinking on that changed in recent years? I'm so out of touch with hockey. But anyways, he's 1.85 PPG on the season so far according to hockey-ref. That seems pretty impressive to me.
-
Wow, that's pretty damn impressive. #1 in assists and points, #2 in goals. #1 in hockey-ref's goals created stat (can't recall having heard of that one before). McDavid and his teammate Draisaitl are #1 and #2 in PPG. But I guess none of it matters much if they don't have some success in the playoffs.

Yeah Hop on the Super Cub bandwagon, it’s great!

GABBAGABBAHEY I haven't heard of Project Overload or Sublevel Zero. Sounds like I should have a look at both of them... but pretty much the only gaming I do these days is on a Switch, so I'm out of luck if they aren't ported to it. Lacrimosa of Dana is coincidentally 60% off on the eShop right now... I think this is the best deal I've seen for it yet. Tempted If I keep waiting it out, there will probably be a bigger sale in the future... 70 or 80% off would be an even sweeter deal. I'm trying to spend as little as possible on new games because then I feel less bad if/when I never actually play them. That happens quite a bit these days. I did not know there was a Love Live! mobile game. Might have to download that one. Love Live! was so good. Can't say I've watched any of the anime that followed it. I think I didn't watch Sunshine!! because I wasn't sure it would live up to my expectations after having enjoyed the first series so much, which seems kinda dumb now looking back... I like to think I'm pretty good at rhythm games, but I hit my limit eventually. Doesn't matter how hard I try, I'll never beat the final few World Tour challenges in SUPERBEAT. Too hard.

Read a few more chapters of Dr. Stone last night...

2021 Baseball Season AKA Pandemic Baseball: The Second Wave

Not very many quality bats in that Mariner lineup... a no hitter is still impressive though! -
I’d never hit my head on anything in that house (except maybe the doorway ) I was a bit surprised to see Reiko falling off her bike so much. Cubs aren’t exactly built for off-roading though. I rode similar motorbikes all the time when I lived in Vietnam, and they can be a pretty rough ride even on paved roads. This show has been top notch so far.

Nice selection of games I have very fond memories of Descent and Descent II, though I haven't thought about them in a very long time... Gotta be at least 20 years since I last played either. Ys is one of those I-should-play-more-of-them games for me. I had a blast with Memories of Celceta on Vita. Keep telling myself I'll get around to Lacrimosa of Dana one of these days. I'm mostly all about pick-up-and-play stuff these days, short bursts of gaming, and I've found I like rhythm games best. At times the lockdown has given me the chance to sink my teeth into other games again, but I'm stalled in a re-play of FF7 now and I don't know if I can be bothered to get back to it. I could just keep playing my favourite rhythm games instead I definitely back Crypt of the Necrodancer My #1 favourite though since I originally picked it up for Vita is SUPERBEAT: XONiC. I have put so many hours into it between Vita and Switch, and I still keep coming back for more.

Pants wearing is always encouraged. So, what are some of your favourite games?

A few times now, I've noticed Celeste on sale on the eShop and thought... Maybe. Still haven't pulled the trigger. Not much time left in my days for gaming. Sometimes I like buying games because it feels good to spend money that's burning a hole in my pocket, but often I don't finish them.

Read up to the end of chapter 138 last night, some thoughts re: Treasure Island:

I didn't see it like that before, but you're not wrong... now Gauma reminds me of the Branch Manager and Warehouse Manager where I work, they constantly complain about how you can't find good workers these days, young people don't work hard enough, won't take overtime, etc., etc.

2021 Baseball Season AKA Pandemic Baseball: The Second Wave

That’s not a shocker to me. They had a good Spring (even though that’s often pretty meaningless) and they do have some talent on their roster. Not sure I’d be on them to finish the season in first place in the ALC... but it’s not a very strong division, so you never know! -
Hello and welcome! Sounds like you’ll fit right in here

Quite the growth spurt for Momiji..! Shigure is a bit of a jerk, but I still find him pretty amusing.

Dr. Stone 103 - Now it’s getting good! Seeing everybody petrified on the ship deck was a great visual.

Yup I can’t believe my eyes seeing the Giants at the top of the AL West -
I'm almost caught up on DB Super, just three chapters left to read. The Galactic Patrol / Moro saga was pretty decent overall. Seems like it could be a bit of a slog if it eventually gets animated though. There is a lot of room in there for the standard "buy time for Goku / Vegeta" stuff that can make the anime drag. I liked Merus and the Ultra Instinct stuff, and while I think the technique Vegeta learned on Yardrat was ultimately kinda lame (Forced Spirit Fission? what a mouthful), I did like that he tried a new tactic and have some success with it. I don't think we needed to get all the Z Fighters back together again, as I didn't think like they added much substance... except for Androids 17 and 18, it made perfect sense for them to help out against Moro. I'm not a fan of Seven-Three, too gimmick-y of a character to me, but I guess he will play a role again eventually, so I will try not to make a final judgement yet.

Where’d everybody go..? Vivy What a badass takedown of the Metal Float. This gal means business! Also, I am rather enjoying the spooky vibes of Shadows House. Wasn’t sold on it after the first episode, but it is definitely growing on me.

Stroman is off to a nice start for the Mets this year too. Even Taijuan Walker appears to be doing better than one could have expected given his spotty track record. I guess the problem for the Mets is that it takes more than three pitchers to form a starting rotation. Stats for the other two guys don’t look so hot. I wonder if Syndegaard will be back any time this summer..? It’s been over a year since his TJ surgery. They could really use him, though they will have to be quite cautious with how they pitch him if he can return this summer. Don’t want to re-injure that precious UCL. -
