2021 Baseball Season AKA Pandemic Baseball: The Second Wave

Mets extend Lindor https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/03/mets-to-extend-francisco-lindor.html 10 years, $341 million. With deferrals of $5 million / year so they won't actually be done paying him until 2041. That's a pretty big contact! Not the biggest ever, but it's certainly up there. -

Yikes, that sounds rough. Do you know if he tested positive for one of the variants? I keep hearing that the "variants of concern" can make people more sick. Kinda scary. -

They're calling this the third wave. You'd think we would have learned more by now. I guess the plane needs a new pilot! That's no surprise to me though. I don't have a very high opinion of Doug Ford (Premier of Ontario). -

The province of Ontario is getting pretty COVID-y again The seven-day average of new daily cases climbed to 2,316, its highest point since January 26. We apparently also hit a new record for number of people in intensive care. Ontario was doing better late Feb. / early March, but that didn't last very long... now the Premier of Ontario is telling people not to make plans for Easter (I wasn't anyways, so who cares) and that there will be an announcement tomorrow. Probably another lockdown of some sort. Work has been a major headache lately. I know lockdowns are supposed to be bad for business, but I really wouldn't mind if some of my customers had to shutdown for a few weeks, sales numbers be damned... A little tidbit from a CBC News article: Lovely. -
Yeah, hard to imagine they would plan a recap episode into a 13 episode stand-alone anime I am already excited for this special. I should set a reminder for myself or something though, because I'll totally forget about it by the time June rolls around

2021 Baseball Season AKA Pandemic Baseball: The Second Wave

Opening Day is tomorrow!!! Jays @ Yankees is the first game of the day I've seen a few different publications now predicting the Jays to finish 2nd in the AL East, around 90 wins, and being a Wild Card team. That is promising to see. Keith Law is predicting a Yankees/Dodgers World Series Also FWIW, Law has your Mets finishing 1st in the NL East, Garlic! -
Yeah, unsatisfying is a good way to describe it. I hope the news re: a special episode is accurate. Maybe it will be included with a Blu-ray/DVD release.

Bit of a weird ending for Wonder Egg Priority As I've said at least once or twice now about this show: I'm not totally sure what to think! Feels like there should be an episode 13 or an OVA to follow... but there was also a "Thank you" at the end of the episode so that makes it feel like a definitive ending... I need to watch it again tomorrow.

That's a long wait! But it's been apparent for a while now that 16 episodes was not going to be enough to cover the rest of the story, so it makes sense that there is another part yet to come.
-
I read somewhere that the manga has been selling well, so I think that bodes well for a season 2. But it's probably more up to the TV ratings and streaming numbers for the anime to decide if a second season would be profitable. Here's hoping!
-
Kemono Jihen -- That was a pretty satisfactory ending to the Yui case and the series overall. Kind of a bummer that we didn't get see Kabane meet his parents, but maybe there will be a second season if the ratings / streaming numbers were high enough. I'd keep watching. I've had my fair share of complaints but I'll probably continue with it whenever it comes back. This season has me feeling a bit burnt out on the show and story, but I'll still give it another shot after a break.

Happy birthday web -
Only one episode left. I'm gonna be pretty bummed out when it's over

Haven't done this in a while What is your pick for Anime of the Season, Winter 2021, and why? If you can't pick just one, then give us your shortlist.
-
I don't think I would differentiate between new series and continuations when thinking about AOTS. This part of Jujutsu Kaisen was pretty darn good. I think the episodes that aired during the Winter season were stronger than what it start with in the Fall.

This season I watched (in no special order) Neverland Dr. Stone Jujutsu Kaisen Back Arrow SK8 Horimiya Attack on Titan Kemono Jihen Wonder Egg Priority The final season of Attack on Titan has been really cool to see animated, but I would not say it's anime of the season. It might actually be a toss up between Horimiya and WEP for AOTS for me. Every week, I've looked forward more and more to these shows. Though I won't pretend like I haven't been looking forward to Attack on Titan every week too. WEP has been pretty messed up at times, and the subject matter is pretty heavy, but it's been very compelling. And Horimiya is just a fun and enjoyable, feel-good, kinda show. I'll give an honourable mention to SK8, which is by no means a life-changing great anime, but it's fun and I love the enthusiasm for skateboarding in this show. Lots of feel-good vibes every Saturday when I watch Horimiya and SK8 back-to-back I'll miss both of them

The final episode of Stone Wars was also pretty OK. I enjoyed this show overall, but I'm also kinda glad it's over I guess. Not super hyped to see more of it.

Yeah it might be a rough summer for Seattle, but you never know! AL West isn't the strongest division in the league. I'm also 100% on-board the Dads bandwagon -
I like a happy ending so I guess I'm OK with how they finished Neverland because it was a happy ending + no cliffhanger or threat of a 3rd season But wow what a bad final episode. It was more of a slideshow than an animation. Nice transitions I have zero interest in reading the manga.

I probably won't have the opportunity to get a shot until the summer. We're progressing much slower in Canada. I'm currently going through another bout of pandemic fatigue though, so I don't particularly care right now Give it a few weeks and I'll be paranoid again and wanting to get a shot at the first opportunity, but for now I'm good. -
I have now arrived at the Golden Saucer. I'm kicking myself a little bit because I just realized I missed the second Enemy Skill materia in Junon. Hopefully it's still there waiting for me when I go back to the Junon area after I get the Buggy. Gotta go on a little Enemy Skill learning spree.

I'm gonna have to re-watch WEP today because I watched it late last night and I was nodding off near the end, but wow there was a lot going on in that episode. Poor Frill

Yeah I bought my PSTV for $60 CAD about 4 years ago. The seller was actually a writer/reviewer for The Vita Lounge. He probably got it during the PSTV fire sale when stores were liquidating them, so he gave me a reasonable price. When I sold my Vita gear a couple years ago, prices were starting to creep up a bit but I still sold it for $60. I don't think it would have been too hard to get $100+ for it. Now the ads I see online are asking $200-250 I guess people just assume they're more valuable because they're not made anymore..? I'm sure there's some room to haggle, those are just asking prices, but I wouldn't even bother trying to bargain with somebody asking $200+ for a PSTV.
