When I watch Promised Neverland it sometimes makes me think of the Walking Dead. I feel like there are some parallels there. Add the disconnect between the show and the source material to the list of similarities. (I'm about 4 years behind and probably won't ever catch up on TWD though so maybe I'm way off)

Fun episodes of Neverland and Dr. Stone this week. I liked the little time skip in Neverland. It's cool to see the demon town and of course the surprise at the end was great.

I solid my Vita and PS TV ( ) well over a year ago so my wrap-up would be a big zero Gonna go look at my Switch year in review now though... (if I can find it / if it's still there)

Sunday evening when I ran out of booze, I gave a second thought to the whole dry January idea. Sure it was already Jan. 4th, but whatever. Going dry for 27/31 days would still be quite the achievement. Also it was after 6pm and liquor stores closer early on Sundays I was doing quite well this week but when I got home from work today my darling wife said she'd but me a bottle of wine. She's real nice like that It would be inappropriate to say no, right? I gotta be a good husband here. So my first crack at dry January has ended after 4 days. Maybe I'll see if I can double that the next time I run out What are you trying and failing at so far in 2021?

My Dry January in a nutshell All January there were TV ads for Dry Feb so I have been convinced to give dryness another shot. I didn't officially sign up for Dry Feb 'cause I cannot be bothered to do fundraising, but the goal is to be dry all February. I may have to give myself one cheat day though because T?t is next week and you can't celebrate T?t without some good rice wine (or a nice bottle of vodka since I can't get the good stuff in Canada).

I haven't been following the Leafs but I guess they're doing OK because my Leafs-fan-friends aren't crying everyday Just took a quick look at the standings and despite being in second place it doesn't look they're scoring a ton (eg compared to Edmonton, Vancouver, and Montreal). I kinda thought they were supposed to be a more powerful offensive team. Their goal differential is positive and they're winning games though. My Jets are right behind them

I'm kinda interested to get into Black Clover now. Not really sure why I didn't in the first place. It's nice to know I've got time now to watch the first 170 episodes before it eventually comes back. Or I may just read the manga

I don't follow Black Clover but my understanding is that the anime people want to go to more of a seasonal approach (think Attack on Titan). Right now I think they're too close to catching up to the manga, so if the anime just keeps going on then they run out of source material. I don't think it's because the manga is ending imminently. Hunter × Hunter Hiatus × Hiatus is a bit of a special case because of how unreliable Togashi is. Just have a look at this chart: https://hiatus-hiatus.github.io/ There are a whole lot of missed weeks (red blocks) since 2006. We're on the longest stretch of hiatus ever right now

Bad goalies on the Canucks or just randomness? also: Ottawa at the bottom of the North division standings at 1-8-1 -- you love to see it

Wow I get that the anti-vaccine people don't want vaccines for themselves but why try to stop other people from getting them..? I noticed when I moved back to Canada after several years in Asia, we Westerners spend far too much time getting upset over things other people do that aren't really our business. Why can't people just do their thing and let other people do theirs... -

That doesn't sound too bad then. I used to hate getting shots, but now I'm two years into allergy immunotherapy (for terrible summertime grass allergies) so I get shots at least monthly, sometimes weekly. Needles don't bug me as much anymore. When I started AIT my arm would swell up pretty big for a few days (it looked ridiculous) and would be so itchy. Now I just get a small lump and mild itchiness for a day or two. The annual flu shot, when I remember to get it, doesn't usually give me side effects. -

The Jays traded for Steven Matz: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/01/blue-jays-nearing-deal-to-acquire-steven-matz.html He wasn't good last summer, but I guess we're hoping that was an anomaly. Not that he was especially good the seasons before last summer. He showed some promise during his first two seasons in the league and has fallen off since then, it seems like (you can tell how closely I follow the Mets ) Most pitchers really like working with Jays' pitching coach Pete Walker, so I hope the Jays coaches and analytics team can help Matz unlock some more of his potential. I like the idea of having another lefty in the rotation, even if he's just an end of the rotation innings eater type of guy. Maybe he'd even be a long reliever. I guess we'll see how it all plays out in the spring! edit: Forgot to mention they got Marcus Semien on a one-year deal as well. Even if he's not as great as he was in 2019, he's still an upgrade over some of the guys they were running out in the infield last summer. I think it's a nice little signing. Can't believe the A's couldn't keep him on a similar contract. Either he wanted out of Oakland, or Oakland just isn't spending _any_ money this year (they're a bit of a trash organization...)

1) Taiko no Tatsujin Rhythmic Adventure Pack #1 2) Final Fantasy V Normally I don't play FFV until the summer during the Fiesta, but I decided to do the "Cast Esuna for Corona" winter challenge. It's not much of a challenge if you're familiar with the game, but it was fun all the same. I got to make extensive use of two of my favourite jobs: Geomancer and Dancer. The other jobs were White Mage and Summoner. When you have access to white magic and summons, it's hard not to beat this game But I tried to make the Geomancer and Dancer's goofy abilities the backbone of my run just for funsies. I screwed up a tiny bit at the end and let Neo Exdeath get one Meteor spell off -- oops -- but it was otherwise a pretty flawless, first try win over ol' Neo.

I dunno, I think it's pretty good so far. Not great or life-changing or AOTS but good. I love the style. It does touch on some pretty heavy topics though

Oh man these episodes of Attack on Titan Literally been waiting years to see this stuff animated! Next week though

We've had a couple "oh no do we have covid!?" scares now and, yeah, that shit is so tiring and stressful At least your test came back negative. Get well soon! -
Project Scard -- this show is a tough watch for me. I don't find the story or characters very compelling and I'm not in love with the art style. Might just drop it. Back Arrow -- still enjoying it. There's some good humour, a fun cast of characters going off on an adventure, and the Briheights are an interesting idea. It's not AOTS material but I'm enjoying it quite a bit anyway. Horimiya -- a little bit too much teenage awkwardness in episode 3 I think

I don't know anything about the guy the Jets got back but I guess he wanted out of Columbus just like Laine wanted out of Winnipeg? I wonder if either player will stick around with their new teams beyond this season...

That dream sequence was top notch Not a heck of a lot really happened in this episode though, the funny parts were fun and all but gimme a bit more action next time please

Neverland - It all seemed too good to be true... Dr. Stone - I'm happy to have my favourite character back in it!
