I think this is my 5th or 6th time playing through Chapter 9 :|

End game stuff 8.7/10, 1 full point off for the Boss Battle Stagger thing and .3 for some of the filler/remake changes not working as well, especially near the endgame. 10/10 graphics and music tho Now for endgame materia training and then Hard Mode

Does that mirroring also include loving the SHIT out of the motorcycle minigame, hoping there's more of it shoehorned into the future released and/or and even wanting a standalone release based on it?

I think OG Shinra HQ has a firm leg up on the new one.

Not only that, but there's rumours that apparently they're going to also release the Series S, a cheaper/lower-powered version of the Series X to replace the One S/One X so Grandma won't have a meltdown at Wal-Mart when she goes to pick up the new XBox for her grandson and is faced with a wall that reads "XBox One X, Xbox One S, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S" all in the same display.

Scorn looks like it took all the spooky parts of Alien movies and made it worse, NOPE Chorvs/Chorus looks cool as fuck Nintendo Direct-style is the perfect way to use a celeb/athlete, no live-crowd awkwardness >The Medium >"Hi, we're working with a dude best known for Silent Hill" NOPE >Scarlet Nexus Looks like what little I know of Control mixed with anime bullshit, so it looks cool as fuck >Yakuza YOSHHHH, making sure to make a point that "we have Japanese games too, guys, honest" I dunno if it'll carve out a better spot for Xbox this generation, but the Smart Delivery/forwards-and-backwards compatible thing is probs the coolest pro-consumer thing Xbox has spearheaded and it's about time something like that exists.

Despite sounding like a bitch, I am actually enjoying my time with the game I think they got the big stuff mostly right and there's a lot of small things that create aggravations that with a slight tweak or two would be done right. And there's just kind of no escaping that they took a 5-6 hour segment of the original game and jammed it full of extension filler and anime filler to bump it up to 30-40ish (I really liked some of it), so on the one hand it really fleshes out that part of the game and the characters involved and on the other, the main story is metered out as a reward for navigating all that padding.

I'd be down for a Chapter 14 style game.
-
Fucking graphicssssss man, just hit the I feel like they'll keep the linearity going more than they won't.
-
There is a Classic Mode that actually does let you play that way I think. Also I'm playing on Normal Mode so those little battle system aggravations are probably more pronounced than on Classic and Easy mode
-
It's mostly super linear the way XIII was, but has nice little hub areas you can sidequest in like XIII-2 did, and has implemented and expanded LR's battle system, which was action-RPGish, it still used ATB bars that you had to save up but you can maneuver around the battlefield while doing shit. It's mostly a good thing but with some frustrations. There's times where you can see some treasure chest or something but the game forces you to walk in another direction to see a cutscene first and they botched the stagger system in boss battles mightily Staggering = you hit enemies and a bar fills up, if you hit them with their weaknesses it fills up faster, if it fills up all the way they're "staggered", they fall over and you can beat on them for a limited time without them doing anything until they recover. A major gripe I have with the game is that during most boss battles I've encountered so far, there's at least one point in each battle (usually around the 50% health point) where the boss takes a new form or changes tactics and drains the accumulated stagger bar to zero, which is aggravating as shit.

This game is Final Fantasy XIII-4, which means the Final Fantasy XIII series is either heavily underrated/ahead of its time or Final Fantasy 7 fanboys will slurp up anything with FF7 in it that they would otherwise proclaim to hate
-
I had that happen to me on the first fight with Reno. I did like a sliver of damage and lost out on a lot more. It's dumb as fuck, why teach us the skills to use this battle system and then remove it when we most need to take advantage of it? If the bosses die too quickly, just add more HP like the XIII games did

In chapter 8 of Remake The story pacing is not unexpectedly slow as fuck. Takes forever to go anywhere, padded as fuck. The character and small-detail stuff is really good to make up for it (Barrett singing THAT theme nearly killed me), and the way they're fleshing things out is mostly I absolutely hate how the boss battles will interrupt partways through to take on a new form and reset your stagger, that's artificial difficulty bullshit. We also watched Advent Children the other night. It's mind-blowing that Remake's graphics can rival it (some scenes and settings in Remake look much better, some of AC still blows away Remake, but they're competitive in who has the best graphics). So-so plot-wise (apparently a lot of the additional scenes were the children, which was super-boring) but the battles and the MUSIC (SE-PHI-ROTH) were great
-
I liked 1's storyline/setting/characters more than 2 but 2 plays a lot better than 1. They sort of realized they had something with 1 but didn't properly figure it out until the sequel

Just got to the train in Chapter 2 of FF7 Remake

Just finished the PS1 version of Final Fantasy VII on the PSP. Going forward it'll be some combination of Fire Emblem: Awakening as my bathroom game, Final Fantasy 7 Remake whenever Chaoxytal gets his PS4, and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7, because the PSP is such a cool little device to hold and use and might as well do'em all at once -
I miss Flying Witch, some very "uwaaaaaaaaaaaa~" moments in it One of the recent arcs had to do with what was functionally emotional and physical child abuse. I could see Stain being scary for kids but mileage may vary on that. I'd lean "no" but it's not it's not so far out that it'd be a hard no, I guess, a lot of Boku no Hero is uplifting YOSHHHHHHH and some of it is super-cute Edit: I guess also it depends how the dub handles it because I assume you watch dubs with them?

No Gold Chocobo, that frustration's for when I do the PS4 version Cloud/Tifa/Aeris, then Cloud/Tifa/Vincent when I had the choice. Vincent's Limits actually fucked me over a few times so I probably should've stopped using him, but his character design is cool I really dug Cid as a character and I might just use him more instead of one of the other two on the PS4 playthrough. Maybe Cait Sith too. Hard to replace Tifa though, her Limits building on each other was really fun (also giant anime boobs = you're in my squad automatically no matter what game it is :x )... I think it was PSOne Classic version but I'm using Custom Firmware so I'm not totally certain how close it is to the real thing. Would take a few seconds to detect the memory card and Disc 3 was chuggy in general whenever Mako green was on-screen. Don't think I noticed significant load times with anything else. Gonna replay FF9 on PSP at some point too because 100%ing it requires speedrunning the game for Steiner's Ultimate weapon and I kinda wanna play it it similarly to the way I did FF7 before trophy-hunting
-
Just finished OG 7 on PSP (the 100% run is going to be saved for the PS4 Port), Remake comin in the mail (estimated arrival was between yesterday and next monday), gonna watch Advent Children with Chaoxytal tonight and have Crisis Core ready on the PSP whenever there's time for it

1) One Piece - Pirate Warriors 3 1a) Journey 2) Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD (Platinum) 3) Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD (Platinum) 4) Metal Gear Solid IV: Guns of the Patriots (Platinum) 5) Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD (Platinum) 6) Zone of the Enders HD (Platinum) 7) Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen 8 ) Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner HD (Platinum) 9) Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection (100%) 10a) Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (100%) 10b) Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (Platinum) 11) Sonic The Hedgehog 1 (100%) 12) Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (100%) 13) Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna - The Golden Country 14) :ps1: Final Fantasy VII Good game. - Saw a lot of Mario RPG in this. The pre-rendered backgrounds, some of the sound effects, how they handled the comedic parts, the random mini-games - Surprised at how memorable the music was, I'd only played this game part-way through once like 10-15 years ago and I remember a lot of the tracks - Definitely one of the best Final Fantasy settings I've played. Guns, planet-destroying corporations and other '90s edgy shit - Was way more into the story this time. Back in the day I really dug the stuff with Shinra and thought the Sephiroth stuff bogged the game down because everything basically degenerated into "Let's just follow Sephiroth" (I still thought part of the post-Midgar stuff was bogged down by this) but I miss those over-complex-just-to-be-complex JRPG storylines and some of those plot twists got me WHOA-ing - Good cast of characters. Cid's my favourite, I even managed to start caring about Cait Sith and I wasn't expecting that to happen - Mostly liked the ease and customization of the Materia System, but I hate "All" Materia being necessary and limited - Fucking loved Limits - I hated how some of the bosses and some of the late-game harder monsters would basically one-shot a party member or smash your HP down to nothing before you have a chance to do anything, it's cheap, especially with old-school no save-points and no-fast-forwarding cut-scenes. - Super Nova is obnoxious as fuck - The mini-games didn't do that much for me. I recognize they're a solid addition to games like this in that era but these days they're just shallow, control badly, and are annoying to suddenly be thrust into if they have a one-time reward and you don't know how to play them or how they handle. - I didn't really side-quest at all, saving the 100% run for the PS4 port/Trophies

Partway through Disc 2
